On October 14, 2010, House of Latin America (HOLA), a NGO in Iran acting in solidarity and defense of the peoples of Latin America, initiated an Appeal calling on social justice and anti-war forces around the world to mobilize to come to the defense of the people of Iran in this urgent hour of U.S. escalating threats and continuing sanctions.  The appeal was initially supported by a number of antiwar organizations in North America and was later endorsed by 1000s of freedom loving people and 100s of progressive organizations throughout the word.
Now, it is time for you to join this campaign by signing the petition posted here under the title Solidarity with Iran – SI.

A Campaign Initiated by: The House of Latin America

The United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) was founded on the principle of self-determination for all oppressed nations and peoples. We demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all U.S./NATO troops mercenaries and drones from Afghanistan Iraq Pakistan and Libya

As the United States in its desperation to control world resources and maintain its power threatens to attack Syria and Iran works to stifle popular resistance movements slashes our standard of living poisons our environment and systematically dismantles the Bill of Rights well over 500 antiwar and social justice activists gathered in Stamford CT March 23-25 to lay out an Action Program that can challenge the NATO/G-8 Agenda for war austerity and repression.

More than 500 progressive political activists attended the United National Antiwar Coalitions second national conference held here March 23-25 convened under the theme Say No to the NATO/G8 Wars & Poverty Agenda. The conference discussion led to a clear anti-imperialist political and action agenda for the anti-war movement for the coming months. While the President and Commander in Chief of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama celebrates the first anniversary of the alleged death of bin Laden, the substantive issue as to WHO WAS OSAMA BIN LADEN remains unheralded. (Remarks by President Obama in Address to the Nation from Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, see video at foot of article)

At noon on May 20th, a massive rally and march will be held. The march will be lead by members Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) and end with a ceremony where Afghanistan War Veterans will return their medals to NATO as the thousands of marchers witness and support their action. This important service to their country in the pursuit of peace on the part of the IVAW members will be viewed around the world.

The most demolishing article I have seen nowadays about Latin America was written by Renán Vega Cantor, full professor at the National Pedagogical University of Bogotá, which was published three days ago by the website Rebelión under the title Ecos de la Cumbre de las Américas (Echoes of the Summit of the Americas).

[Sanctions, New York Times reporter Rick Gladstone writes, have subjected ordinary Iranians to increased deprivations in order to punish Iran for enriching uranium that the West suspects is a cover for developing the ability to make nuclear weapons. [1] In other words, Iran is suspected of having a secret nuclear weapons program, and so must be sanctioned to force it to abandon it.]

It certainly doesnt look much like what were seeing in Afghanistan today. A feckless, corrupt, incompetent government kept alive and in place (we cant really say in power since its reach doesnt extend much beyond Kabul) by billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars and tens of thousands of U.S. and allied troops. Escalating, not diminishing violence against civilians. More frequent and more deadly incidents involving U.S. troops out of control, from burning Qurans to urinating on the bodies of dead Afghans, to the most recent war crime, the murder of 17 civilians including 9 children in Kandahar.

The following is based on a presentation given by the author, the Chicago Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), on an anti-NATO panel at Occupy Chicagos April 7 kickoff to the Chicago Spring. The final event of the spring actions will be a permitted march on the NATO Summit on Sunday, May 20.

NATO war makers are preparing to meet in Chicago on May 20-21 following the meeting of the G8 heads of state behind the fortified walls of Camp David.

May 1st as American as apple pie, is not recognized as workers holiday in the USA.  Nevertheless tens of thousands of people, members of labor unions, activists in peace organizations, churches and mosques, youths, students, artists, women, minorities specially undocumented workers participated in todays rally and march, marking an unforgettable day in the history of American peoples movement.  A distinction of the May Day demonstrations of this year with the ones that took place in previous years was the active participation of the Occupy Movement in calling for and organizing the protest rallies.  One could call today the day of 99% or the day of Occupiers.

Just as in the 2003 disaster when President George W Bush under cover of a blatant falsification - Iraqs possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) - ordered a massive pre-emptive bombardment of Iraq and began a 10-year war and mayhem, on May 15, 2006 a report by the Intelligence Division of the New York Police Department stated that as the possibility of military action taken against Iran grows stronger, so does the danger of the City [New York] being attacked by agents of the Iranian government or its sympathizers.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson and other religious, labor and community leaders say they plan to protest during next months NATO Summit in Chicago.

This year marks the 67th anniversary of the massacre at Deir Yassin, one of the most appalling crimes carried out by the Jewish Irgun and Stern gangs in Palestine.

The International Action Center urges you to take immediate action on the appeal below in solidarity with 2,000 Palestinian political prisoners on hunger strike in the prisons of the U.S.-backed Israeli apartheid regime.

In her address at the U.N. Security Council Monday 3/12 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated: The US believes firmly in the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all member states but we do not believe that sovereignty demands that this council stand silent when governments massacre their own people threatening regional peace and security in the process. And we reject any equivalence between premeditated murders by a governments military machine and the actions of civilians under siege driven to self-defense

Why do I say now only aged and last ink: The nuclear - armed Israel at risk the already fragile world peace? Because it must be said what tomorrow might be too late; also because we - as a German loaded enough - Suppliers could be a crime that is predictable which is why our complicity none of the usual excuses would pay off.

March 27 2012 Information Clearing House --- The March 11 Massacre of the 17 Afghan citizens including at least nine children and four women raises many fundamental issues about the nature of a colonial war the practices of a colonial army engaged in a prolonged (eleven-year) occupation and the character of an imperial state as it commits war crimes and increasingly relies on arbitrary dictatorial measures to secure public compliance and suppress dissent.

The mounting threat of a US-Israeli military attack against Iran is based on several factors including: (1) the recent military history of both countries in the region (2) public pronouncements by US and Israeli political leaders (3) recent and on-going attacks on Lebanon and Syria prominent allies of Iran (4) armed attacks and assassinations of Iranian scientists and security officials by proxy and/or terrorist groups under US or Mossad control (5) the failure of economic sanctions and diplomatic coercion (6) escalating hysteria and extreme demands for Iran to end legal civilian use-related uranium enrichment (7) provocative military exercises on Irans borders and war games designed for intimidation and a dress rehearsal for a preemptive attack (8) powerful pro-war pressure groups in both Washington and Tel Aviv including the major Israeli political parties and the powerful AIPAC in the US (9) and lastly the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (Obamas Orwellian Emergency Decree March 16 2012).

From the air the terrain of the Department of Energys Nevada National Security Site with its arid high plains and remote mountain peaks has the look of northwest Iran. The site some sixty-five miles northwest of Las Vegas was once used for nuclear testing and now includes a counterintelligence training facility and a private airport capable of handling Boeing 737 aircraft. Its a restricted area and inhospitable—in certain sections the curious are warned that the sites security personnel are authorized to use deadly force if necessary against intruders.

[After years of U.S. threats Iran is taking steps which suggest that is both willing and capable of closing the Strait of Hormuz. On December 24 2011 Iran started its Velayat-90 naval drills in and around the Strait of Hormuz and extending from the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman (Oman Sea) to the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.]

Anti-war organizations from across the United States and 6 other countries came together on Saturday Feb. 4 to protest the rising crescendo of threats against Iran. In more than 30 states and 80 cities large and small groups joined forces to raise four key demands.

The encirclement of Syria and Lebanon has long been in the works. Since 2001 Washington and NATO have started the process of cordoning off Lebanon and Syria. The permanent NATO presence in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Syrian Accountability Act are part of this initiative. It appears that this roadmap is based on a 1996 Israeli document aimed at controlling Syria. The documents name is A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm.
